In accordance with Bylaw 18548, I consent to receive communications and notifications related to property assessment and tax matters from the City of Edmonton (City) in an electronic format.
I understand that communications may include, but is not limited to, property assessment notices, property tax notices, school support declarations, notifications related to property tax bills, balances and the City's monthly payment plan, and other notices, forms and any information relating to property assessment and taxes.
I understand that I am required to provide a secure email address. The email address that I provided to create a property owner profile on the web portal at MyProperty.edmonton.ca shall be used as the secure email address.
I also understand that in addition to receiving notifications by email, I may provide a phone number to also receive notifications by text messages. The phone number that I provided on the web portal at MyProperty.edmonton.ca shall be used as the secure phone number.
I agree that electronic communications will be provided through the web portal at MyProperty.edmonton.ca. The City will send notifications to the email address and any phone number I have provided in order to notify me of any communications available for viewing and downloading on MyProperty.Edmonton.ca.
I understand that notifications are sent unencrypted and unsecured. I acknowledge that the notifications could be lost or intercepted, or could be viewed or altered by others who have access to my email or phone. I accept this risk and acknowledge that the City will not be liable if I am unable to access or receive the email and/or text notifications, nor for any delay or inability to deliver notifications.
I agree to keep the email address and phone number provided to the City active, and to regularly check that email address and any phone number I provided for notifications that communications have been uploaded onto the webportal at MyProperty.edmonton.ca. I am responsible for any fees imposed by my service providers for receiving notifications and this agreement is not intended to affect any agreements that I have with other service providers. I acknowledge that the City is not being made a party to any agreements with those service providers or other third parties.
I agree that all assessment and taxation communications available on the web portal at MyProperty.edmonton.ca will be deemed to have been received by me on the date that the notification is sent to my email address I provided whether I log onto the web portal or not.
I agree that the City is no longer required to send hard copies of communications, including tax and assessment notices, through regular mail. I understand that the City may continue to send notifications by regular mail if it is deemed to be necessary. I agree to keep the City updated in relation to the correct mailing address.
I understand that I can opt out of receiving electronic communications at any time by logging in to MyProperty.edmonton.ca and updating Notification Preferences. I can also opt out of receiving electronic communications by contacting the City at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 311.
I understand that I will be deemed to opt out of receiving communications by an electronic format if emails sent by the City to my email address are returned as undeliverable or are otherwise rejected. If I am deemed to have opted out, I will start receiving all communications relating to assessment and tax at my last known mailing address.
I agree that if I opt out or am deemed to have opted out, this shall not change any complaint deadline or tax payment due date deadlines for any communications that will need to be sent to me through the regular mail.
I understand that I will no longer receive notifications or electronic communications about the property if the property transfers ownership.
I understand that by setting notification preferences to email or email and text, the paper mail to the current mailing address will stop, unless or until the time other owners set their notification preferences to paper, in which case I will continue to receive notifications by email or email and text and other owners will receive notifications or correspondence according to the preferences set by them.
This User Agreement may be changed from time to time. The City will provide notice in advance of the effective date of the new terms. I agree that the City may notify me of these changes by emailing either the new terms, or notice of where the new terms can be found, to the email address and any phone number that I provided.
